Assignment-5 pt.1

For Monday of this week in class, we need to do some research into the terms Icon/Index/Symbol/Trace Icon: From what I am seeing, it refers to a direct depiction. Say you have a sign with an image of a phone on it, that would be literally representing the phone that is presumably nearby. Index: A thing that points to some part of its method of creation eg: smoke points to a fire, a shadow points to there being something blocking a section of light, a footprint points to there being a shoe or foot.   Symbol: As far as I can tell, the way that a symbol is different from an icon is that a symbol represents something more than the literal depiction of what it is. Eg: a skull represents death, an apple could represent temptation, billionaires represent a profound illness in our economy/society.   Trace: The definitions I found referred to copying an image from one superimposed sheet paper, projection or the like, to a different sheet or canvas etc. Extrapolating a bit, I am ...

I can Heartly bear it!

Play nice, give a thumbs-up!

Image
So, this was intended to be a thumbs-up, but I realized while flipping through my drawing book that at a glance, it looks like a scribble-line penis.   Pen on Drawing Paper (8.5 x 11) 10 minutes

Guts

This is Guts from Berserk drawn in scribble line. I really enjoyed this one, especially the shading of the cloak! Pen on Drawing Paper (8.5 x 11) 30 minutes

Scribble Line Assignment 4, Attempt 2

Image
Not much to say here, my original scribble line drawings were not scribbly enough, so I did the assignment again. This time, instead of being concerned with drawing something, I focused on making the drawings scribbly and gradient enough. Marker, Pastel, Pencil Crayon, Charcoal, Pastel Chalk, Pen, Knife, Makeup, Pencil, Graphite Stick, on (8.5 x 11) paper, 10 min

The Piano, The Lamp, The Ball, and The Alien Fish

Image
These are some scribble line drawings I did over Thanksgiving Break, I never got to complete the piano, but I still feel like because it is in pen it is more obviously scribble line then some of my other drawings. Pen on Drawing Paper (8.5 x 11) 20 minutes

Assignment 4 - 10 Drawings

Image
Pokémon in my attempt at scribble line. We had to find ten mediums hence: Darkrai in ink brush, Latios in marker, Cradily in pen, Mamoswine in pastel, Serviper in pastel compressed chalk, Wailmer in graphite stick, Gorebyss in Chocolate, Jumpluff in pencil crayon, Diglett in peanut butter, and Masquerain in pencil. On Drawing paper (8.5 x 11) 4 hours

Contour practice for Assignment 3

Contour practice for assignment 2. There is a pencil sharpener, broken pencil, scissors, and utility knife. Pencil on drawing paper (8.5x 11) 1 hour

Lefty, Aide of The Garbled Meat

Image
This was another request from a friend, specifically they asked for "The Hamburger Helper mascot in Dark Souls armor". So, what I did was pick a different gauntlet on each finger, with them bulging because they do not fit correctly, I swapped out his spoon for a mace, and gave the main part of the hand a visor. Pen and Pencil on 8.5 x 11 drawing paper. 40 minutes-ish

Azure-eyes

Image
This is a drawing of the Azure-eyes Silver Dragon. I started it a while ago for a friend, but did not finish until last night. I was hoping to do more with sculpting the muscles with shading, but I realized the posing and proportions were off, and looking at it now, it is not obvious where the right wing connects, so I will have to do touch-ups when I get it back. All in all, I did not quite reach what I was aiming for, but it was worth making for the practice alone. Pen and pencil on 8.5 x 12 drawing paper 4 hours

Scribble Line Part 4 - Assignment 4

Image
This is a dragon dive bombing a tomato. I used the entirety of two black ballpoint pens to create this image. It was arduous, but I had fun with the concept. The dragon was a challenged to myself to create something original, as I have difficulty picturing images in my head. The tomato was to demonstrate a bit of a gradient, and the eye and mouth were me taking inspiration from the egg from Berserk.   Ball point pen on 28 x 24 drawing paper
